From a young age I wanted a career where I could help people and be directly involved in the community. I come from a long line of firefighters and police officers, so pursuing a career in Criminal Justice seemed like the obvious choice.
During my studies and physical training, I was experiencing significant pain in my ankles and soon discovered I had ligament instability, which hindered my ability to run. My surgeon told me if I did not address my ankle instability, I may not be able to finish the police physical and I would have more serious problems down the road. Soon after that visit, I scheduled the surgeries.
Post-operative recovery was rough. I was bed ridden for weeks and my whole body hurt from head to toe. I felt pain from the slightest shift in position and couldn’t sleep more than 30 minutes at a time. Finally, the day came for me to get my cast off, after which I headed straight to my Acupuncturist. She worked on me for over two hours using Acupuncture and Acupressure. After that appointment, I slept for 14 hours straight, skipped 3 doses of painkillers, and I still did not need any medication after waking.
What I felt that day has been the driving force behind my desire to be the best Acupuncturist possible. After many years of study and thousands of clinical hours, I continuously strive to achieve the best quality of care for all my patients.
